Real LeadRamadan-Kareem-WallpaperDuring Ramazan, a slew of temporary bazaars crop up across Pakistan. Most of these temporary bazaars are established in vacant plots, parking lots and sports grounds, and are usually located in commercial hubs that are accessible via major thoroughfares.

A permission license and an NOC are required from the local authorities (such as KMC, LMC, DHA, Cantonment Board etc) before setting up these bazaars. The areas where most of them are set up include Bahadurabad, Clifton, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Nazimabad, Saddar and Tariq Road (Karachi); DHA, Gulberg and Liberty (Lahore); and F-7 and F-10 Markaz (Islamabad).

The three types of bazaars where stall space is available during Ramazan include:

Fun and Festivity Bazaars. The main attraction includes stalls that cater to families. Shows for children are held there; stalls where henna is applied and banglesare sold are equally popular. Additionally, food stalls are also located there, as are stalls that deal in clothes and household goods. Facilities include electricity, security and valet parking.
Stall size range: 10-25 square feet.
Rental range: Rs 500-2,000 per day.

Ramazan Bazaars. These are usually located in residential areas. Stalls deal in goods that are in high demand during Ramazan, such as food, spices, clothes, shoes, crockery, and homeware. Facilities include electricity.
Stall size range: 7-12 square feet.
Rental range: Rs 200-500 per day.

Weekly Bazaars. Regular weekly bazaars operate throughout the year on various days of the week, depending on the area. During Ramazan, extra stall space is available there to accommodate stalls that deal in goods that are in demand during the month. These bazaars vary from high-end ones in upscale areas, offering facilities such as fibre-glass stalls, valet parking, electricity, security and janitorial services, to those offering basic facilities such as electricity.
Stall size range: 5-100 square feet.
Rental range: Rs 100-3,000 per day.
