A suburban neighbourhood of Rawalpindi, Satellite Town is one of the city’s oldest residential areas, easily accessible via Saidpur and Murree Roads.
A serene neighbourhood… Home to affluent diplomats and expatriates, Satellite Town is one of Rawalpindi’s most coveted neighbourhoods, with wide, tree-lined roads and large houses with perfectly manicured lawns. A significant number of these houses, especially those located along main thoroughfares, are increasingly being used for commercial purposes. Residents have access to amenities such as banks, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, mosques, parks and salons.
A treat for shopaholics… The Satellite Town Bazaar, located in the centre of the neighbourhood, forms its commercial spine. It is well-known for high-end clothing boutiques, a home store – with a wide variety of curtains, carpets and light fixtures – as well as stores dealing in shoes, handbags and handicrafts, and several grocery stores that have been established recently. The Children’s Playland is one of the city’s most popular recreational spots. The Bazaar bustles with activity during Ramazan, as residents and people from across the city shop for Eid.
Foodie hotspot… Several well-known eateries dot Sattelite Town. Desi delights such as chanaa chaat and pani puri can be found at the Bazaar’s Refreshment Centre; fast food options include Broadway Pizza, Chicken Hut, KFC and Pizza Hut. People with a sweet tooth should make it a point to stop at Tehzeeb Bakers, known for its cakes and brownies, or enjoy flavoured yoghurts at Tutti Frutti.
The real estate take… Divided into six blocks (A-F), Satellite Town is a well-planned residential area and one of Rawalpindi’s most expensive. Property is therefore in high demand; property prices and rentals have appreciated by 32% respectively in the last five years.
In a nutshell… Sprawling houses, a satisfactory number of schools and hospitals, not to mention dining and shopping avenues, make Satellite Town one of Rawalpindi’s most coveted residential areas. n
