3rdIf you are still looking for a sacrificial animal for Eid-ul-Azha, consider purchasing one online. Doing so will save you time and ensure that you do not have to visit crowded livestock markets.

Livestock can be purchased online in two ways: websites that contain classified ads placed by individuals who are selling livestock, or websites which deal exclusively in livestock. The latter is a better option, as these websites are considered to be more reliable as the sacrificial animals available on it are managed by the company running the website. Continue reading →

Real Leanurserydmother's day iconMothers – and fathers – who are expecting a child naturally want to create a nursery that is a ‘perfect little haven’ for their little one. However, designing a nursery requires more than just choosing the right colour and theme.

Here are six items to factor in when designing a nursery:

Location. A nursery should ideally be located on the ground floor and not the upper floor of a house since staircases pose ‘fall’ hazards. Select a quiet room close to your bedroom so you can hear the baby cry and do not have to walk far to reach him or her. If you do not have a spare room, put up a divider in your bedroom to create a nursery; a space that measures eight by nine feet is more than adequate. Continue reading →

The Parsi Temple was built in 1898 by a Parsi merchant family

Nauroz, the day that marks the beginning of the Persian Calendar’s New Year, will be celebrated on March 21, primarily by Iranis and Parsis. On this day, Parsis attend special prayers at their temples, after which they celebrate with fervour – and good food. This year, like those before it, the small yet impressive agyari (fire temple) in Rawalpindi will be frequented by the city’s Parsi community.

Rawalpindi’s one and only fire temple… This is Rawalpindi’s only Parsi temple, and is located near a bustling commercial pocket on Murree Road, one of Rawalpindi’s primary thoroughfares. Built in 1898 by a Parsi merchant family, this single-storey structure is pale peach in colour and has white doors. It is located in a compound with plenty of trees; a well-planned graveyard is located within the compound. Continue reading →

Adbuzz 3rd featureHoli, the spring festival of colour that symbolises life, vitality and vibrancy, will be celebrated on March 17 (the day of the last full moon of winter) by Hindus across the globe, and in Pakistan. Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil and the festivities are marked by bonfires, lit to cleanse evil from the world, while gulal (coloured powders) are sprinkled or sprayed on friends and family.

Food forms an integral part of the festivities and preparations begin weeks prior to the festival. Gujiyas and jalebis are placed in thaalis for the morning pooja, and once the pooja is over, revelry begins. Crowds dance to the beat of dholaks, throwing coloured gulal on friends, family and neighbours; each colour represents a different facet of life; red symbolises purity, green signifies vitality, blue exudes serenity, while yellow represents piety.

CareerAs Holi and Nauroz will be celebrated in Pakistan on March 17 and 20 respectively, this is the ideal time to talk about diversity in the workplace.

The obvious visible signs of diversity in every organisation are colour, gender, age and physical ability. Just below the surface are nationality, language and religion. If we go a little deeper, we have individual values, qualifications and customs. Deeper still are the life experiences that shape people’s personality, paradigms, talents and values.

I couldn’t resist talking about this beautiful ring set with an oval-shaped padparadscha. The name padparadscha is derived from Sanskrit: padma meaning lotus and raga meaning colour.
