New mums have a particular look – a harassed, exhausted, exasperated kind of look. Circles under the eyes are evidence of fatigue caused by sleepless nights, anxiety and of course, the tiring process of childbirth.
Recently, I saw a first-time, new mum and her baby; while the baby was a perfect little darling, the young woman was showing signs of the notorious ‘baby blues’. She confessed that she felt pulled down and weepy. She said she couldn’t understand why and was overwhelmed by the whole experience of motherhood – all very natural.
